Integrations, Webhooks and API for Field Service
Field service management software compatible with QuickBooks, and with the rest of your stack: QuickBooks Online, Zapier, Usedesk and Intercom connect from the Integrations page in a click. For anything else there are webhooks that push events to your endpoint and an API that reaches the custom fields you defined yourself.

Field Service Software Integrations From One Page
The Integrations page lists available connectors by category. Each connection is authorised with the third-party service and can be configured or disconnected afterwards from the same card. Connecting is an Owner right.
Integrations are part of the plan; the third-party services keep their own pricing.

QuickBooks Online for Accounting Data
The QuickBooks Online integration provides two-way client sync, and payroll and employee data from Shifton reports can be transferred into accounting. It is connected from the Integrations page and authorised in QuickBooks.
Field service management software compatible with QuickBooks removes the monthly re-keying step.

Zapier, Usedesk and Intercom
Zapier connects Shifton to thousands of applications through automations. Usedesk and Intercom keep support agent statuses aligned with the schedule, so availability in the helpdesk reflects who is actually working.
Connectors cover the routine flows without a development project.

Webhooks and API for Your Own Systems
Webhooks send a payload to your endpoint when an event occurs, which removes the need for your systems to poll for changes. Endpoints are created on the Developer page and require a publicly accessible URL. Custom task fields carry a system name used for API data transfer.
Internal dashboards and legacy systems stay current without manual export.

How integrations, webhooks and the API work
Field service software that talks to the rest of your stack
Few service companies run on a single system. Accounting, support and internal automation usually live in separate tools. Integrations exist so that job data does not have to be entered into each of them by hand.
Shifton has an Integrations page that works as a marketplace: browse by category, read what a connector does, connect it in a click and authorise it with the third-party service. Connecting and configuring is an Owner right, which keeps company-wide connections in one pair of hands.
What connects today
- QuickBooks Online. Two-way client sync, with payroll and employee data moving between Shifton and your accounting, so reports do not have to be re-entered.
- Zapier. The bridge to thousands of apps, for workflows such as posting to Slack when something is created.
- Usedesk. Agent statuses stay in sync with the schedule, so helpdesk availability matches reality.
- Intercom. Support availability aligned with the current schedule.
Webhooks, when you want the events yourself
Webhooks push events to your own endpoint the moment they happen, instead of your systems polling for changes. Create an endpoint on the Developer page, point it at a publicly reachable URL on your server, and Shifton sends the payload when the event fires. This is the cheapest way to keep an internal dashboard, a data warehouse or a legacy system current.
The API, for what a connector does not cover
Custom task fields carry a system name used for API data transfer, which is what keeps an integration project short: a field added for your own process is addressable from outside without guessing at column names. See task management for how those fields are defined.
What integrations cost
Integrations come with your plan. The third-party services have their own pricing, which is between you and them. Shifton itself charges per module: the Tasks base module is free for up to two employees and $5.00 per employee per month above that, with paid modules such as invoicing and inventory at $5.00 per employee per month each. See the pricing page.
Who can connect what
Integrations are visible to the Owner and connected, configured and disconnected by the Owner. Managers can view the page; employees do not see it. Disconnecting is done from the integration's own settings, and each connection works independently of the others, so removing one does not disturb the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the field service software integrate with QuickBooks?
Yes. QuickBooks Online connects from the Integrations page with two-way client sync, and payroll and employee data from Shifton reports can be transferred into your accounting instead of being re-entered.
What else can I connect?
Zapier, which bridges thousands of apps, Usedesk and Intercom for keeping support agent availability in step with the schedule, plus your own systems through webhooks and the API.
How do I connect an integration?
Open Integrations from the sidebar, find the card, click Connect and authorise the connection with the third-party service. The card then shows the connection as active and gives you its settings.
Who is allowed to connect integrations?
The Owner. Managers can see the Integrations page but cannot connect, disconnect or configure, and employees do not see it at all.
What are webhooks used for?
For pushing events to your own system as they happen. You create an endpoint on the Developer page with a publicly accessible URL, and Shifton sends the payload when the event fires, so nothing has to poll for changes.
Is there an API?
Yes. Custom task fields carry a system name specifically for API data transfer, so the fields you define for your own process can be read and written from outside.
Do integrations cost extra?
Not from Shifton: they are part of your plan. The third-party services may charge their own fees.
Can I connect several integrations at once?
Yes. Each integration works independently, so you can connect as many as you need and disconnect one without affecting the others.
